Semana de 15-21 de abril

SPANISH 1

4A VOCAB LIST

4A VOCAB .PPT

Lunes

Objectivo: use the verb ir and the days of the week to discuss where you go during an average week

1-  Review 4A vocabulary

2- Los días de la semana

el lunes           -  Monday
el martes        -  Tuesday
el miércoles   -  Wednesday
el jueves         -  Thursday
el viernes       -  Friday
el sábado       -  Saturday
el domingo    -  Sunday

In Spanish, it is customary to use the definite article el when referring to a day in the future. This is something we don't do in English. Compare the below sentences:

Voy al centro comercial el lunes.

I'm going to the shopping center on Monday.

When we replace el with los, it changes the meaning of the sentence and refers to a recurring routine.

Voy al centro comercial los lunes.

I go to the shopping center on Mondays.

Notices that we do not add an additional "es" to the Spanish day word. It becomes plural simply by changing el to los.

3- Using the chart below, write places or events that you typically attend on each day of the week.  Try to write POR LO MENOS DOS (at least two) nouns for each day. THESE SHOULD NOT BE VERBS, BUT RATHER NOUNS THAT BEGIN WITH EL or  LA. Also remember to combine a and el to make al when the place is a masculine word in Spanish.

EXAMPLE:

Voy al parque.    (I go to the park).

Voy a la playa.   (I go to the beach).

LOS LUNES
LOS
MARTES
LOS MIERCOLES
LOS JUEVES
LOS VIERNES
LOS SABADOS
LOS DOMINGOS

Do not delete this chart! I will be helpful for the project we are doing this Friday!

4- Work with EL DURAZNO (i.e. peach). Ask and answer questions about where your partner goes on each day of the week. Use the model below:

¿Adónde vas los martes?

Generalmente voy a la lección de piano.

* note:  If you stay at home, the answer will be  "generalmente me quedo en casa" and will not use voy.

5- Review as a class

TAREA:  Complete p. 125 and 126 in new 4A homework packet

----------

Martes

1- Preguntas de Repaso

2- Listen to la canción ¿Adónde vas?  + sing along!

¿Adónde vas para esquiar?

6 - Talk through activity 12 on p. 218. Match the phrases on the right-hand side of the refrigerator with the names and pronouns on the left-hand side.

7 - Complete listening exercise 6, p. 75 in 4A packet

TAREA: Begin searching for photos to use in Friday's Keynote presentation (scroll down to Friday to read directions). You will need a picture showing you 1) in a different place for each day of the week, and 2) doing a different activity for each day of the week. Take these pictures as necessary using your iPad over the course of the next few days.

Viernes

Objectivo: Create a Keynote project illustrating where you go each day of the week and what you do there

[for the first ten minutes of class, complete the juego on p. 222. Work with your equipo and divide into teams of two vs. two]

For the rest of the class period please work on Keynote projects. NOTE:  THESE PRESENTATIONS MUST BE DONE ON KEYNOTE, NOT ON PAPER. IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR IPAD CHARGED AND READY TO USE THIS IS A HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS WEEKEND, DUE BY THE END OF THE DAY SUNDAY.

Instrucciónes:

1) Use the Keynote App on your iPad  (you may not use another app or draw this project on paper)

2) Create seven slides with each slide focusing on one day of the week

3)  Write one complete Spanish sentence for each slide. Use the model language below:

Los lunes voy al supermercado para comprar comida.

Pay special attention to:

- the use of al   vs.  a la

- the use of the plural form of each day  (los lunes, not el lunes, because you're discussing a recurring action that repeats week after week)

- the use of an infinitive verb after the word para (in order to,  i.e. para escribir)

4)  Insert one picture of YOURSELF into each slide. You must be in the pictures doing the activities mentioned in different places to receive full credit!

5)  Submit your final project using the Showbie app. The folder is entitled "¿Adónde Vas?"

THIS WILL BE GRADED FOR ACCURACY, NOT COMPLETION. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!

If there is extra time at the end of class, work with your equipo and take turns sharing presentations.

TAREA:  Submit Keynote project in Showbie this weekend if not done in class.

SPANISH 2

Lunes

Objectivo:  Use the irregular preterite forms of estar and hacer to discuss travel in the past

1- Repasar vocabulario del capítulo 8B

2- En la clase de hoy, vamos a usar los verbos estar y hacer en el pretérito. Aquí están los conjugaciones:

                                                                   (IRREGULAR)

                                                                             (IRREGULAR)

We will use the preterite forms of hacer to ask about what people did in the past, while we will use the preterite forms of estar to ask about where people were in the past.  We will need to think very carefully about the exact wording we want to use and rememer that we use ir (fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fueron) to discuss going, while we use the verb estar to discuss being.

Consider the slight differences between these questions:

¿Adónde fuiste?                               Fui al centro comercial.

¿Dónde estuviste?                           Estuve en el centro comercial.

¿Fueron Uds. al aeropuerto?                     Sí, fuimos allí ayer.

¿Estuvieron Uds. en el aeropuerto?         Sí, estuvimos allí ayer.

Remember that we often do not need to repeat the verb hacer in the answers to questions about what we did in the past.

(Yo [pretertie verb]...)

Tarea:  Write answers to the ten questions on the 8B vocab list, beginning with ¿Dónde puedo comprar un boleto?   (Note that Mi equipaje no ha llegado todavía and Necisito otra llave are not questions, but statements of fact).

Since there are no answer starters provided on the vocab list, use your knowledge of Spanish to write a grammatically acceptable and complete sentence to respond to each question.

This will be due on Thursday. It can be turned in on Showbie under 8B Preguntas or on a sheet of paper at the beginning of class.
