Objective: review the preguntas de repaso in preparation for speaking final tomorrow
Today we will review the correct answers to
each of the preguntas de repaso and practice asking/answering them with
partners.
We will also spend a few minutes going over
the system for the speaking final.
Here are the example answers for all of the preguntas de repaso:

1. A mí me gusta levantar pesas y hacer lagartijas.
(Because gusta
is conjugated, the verbs indicating the things you like to do should be in the
infinitive form. To get top points, include at least two things you like to do
rather than just one).
2. A mi hermana le gusta tocar la guitarra.
This answer is in the third person (i.e. él/ella/Ud. form). Thus, you need to use
the words 'a (persona)' along with le gusta and a verb indicating what the
person likes to do. We always use gusta (no
'n') with verbs. We only use gustan with
plural nouns (i.e. me gustan las fresas).
3. (Yo) soy de Florida.
(Remember this question asking asking where
you're from (literally "From where are you?"), and requires the
phrase 'soy de' in the yo form.
4. Mi madre es de California.
(Since this question is in the third person,
the él/ella/Ud. conjugation of ser, 'es', is required).
5. Me llamo Pedro.
(You must use me llamo in your answer).
6. Mi padre se llama Darryl.
(You must use the possessive adjective mi (my), a family word, and the phrase se llama in your answer).
7. Yo tengo catorce años.
(You must use tengo, an accurate number and the word años, which is pronounced with the ñ).
8. Mi hermana tiene once años.
(Same as #7, except you must use the él/ella/Ud. conjugation of tener).
9. Hoy es el cuatro de junio.
(You must include the word el before the date, which is the number
+ the word de + the month. The first
of the month is el primero de + month).
10. Hoy es miércoles.
(We use el
miércoles to talk about an upcoming day. The current day (hoy) does not require the word el).
11. Estamos en la primavera.
(Requires the nosotros conjugation of estar
+ the current season).

(One o'clock requires es la. Two, three and beyond require son las).

la clase de matemáticas.
(Name at least two items and the entire
phrase 'para la clase de...')

(All aspects of the example answer are
required).

(Remember the correct pronunciation of cumpleaños (with ñ) and the correct way
to say dates in Spanish: number + de + month, and first of the

(Remember the prhase juego al. If you use a verb other than jugar, conjugate that verb in the present tense: monto en bicicleta, corro en el parque,
etc.).

(The time you come to school needs to be
accurate and not just a made up number. If you don't come to school at three
a.m., don't say that you do!)

2- Review the preguntas de repaso answers below with your partner. Underlined
area are possible trouble spots to focus on including in your answers.
1. Yo pienso reciclar el
vidrio este fin de semana.
(Must include infinitve verb after conjugated
verb 'pienso'. Doing this changes the meaning of 'pienso' from "I
think" to "I plan to").
2. Para estudiar me faltan un libro y una tableta.
(Remember that faltar is a "verb like gustar,"
so it will be falta if you're missing
only one thing but faltan if you're
missing more than one thing. This is true even if you're missing a list of
individual items, like in the example above).
3. Yo tengo que estudiar para la clase de inglés y ir al
trabajo hoy.
(The word que
is necessary to change the meaning from "I have" to "I have
to." A five-point answer to this question will include two tasks instead
of just one and include the word hoy --
"today").

(The word que
is necessary to change the meaning from "I have" to "I have
to." A five-point answer to this question will include two tasks instead

(You must include the adverb in the answer.
The word "yo" is optional).
6. Para mi, la clase más interesante es la clase de

(The wording of the superlative statement is
very specific: el/la + noun
+ más/menos + adjective. Mixing up the order of words
or omitting words changes the meaning and is not a superlative statement).
7. A mí me gusta más ir a los conciertos porque son
muy entretenidos.
(Even though you're making a comparison here,
you don't have to mention the second activity, as the comparison is implied.
You do, however, need to explain why you like the activity you chose more, and
you need the word más to make it a
comparison).
8. Mi plato principal favorito es la paella. Creo
que es muy sabroso. Mi postre favorito es el flan.
(Remember that the adjective favorito comes after the noun, as do
most Spanish adjectives).
9. Yo compré unos jeans azules y unas corbatas en el

(Remember to use the preterite conjugation of
comprar, not the present. To receive
max points, mention where you bought the item and when you bought it).
10. Yo escuché la música rock ayer.
(Remember the past form of escuchar, not the present. Most musical
genres in Spanish follow the formula la
música + English genre name. Also mention when you listed to the music).
11. Hoy llevo unos pantalones negros, una camisa
gris y verde, y unas botas.
(The words unos/unas mean 'some' and sound more natural than los/las in this answer. Mentioning three
different items and colors is necessary for top points. Also remember that camisa means 'shirt' but 'camiseta' means 't-shirt.')
12. Ayer (yo) llevé...
(Same logic as question 11, but now the past
conjugation is required).
13. Yo vi una película romantica el fin de semana
pasado.
(You must include the conjugated verb for
whatever you did, as well as mention when you did it. The verb hacer will only be necessary in the
answer if it's the main action that happened in the past -- hice mi tarea ayer, hice snowboard el año
pasado, hice ejercicio el martes pasado).
14. Yo fui al campo el verano pasado.
(Say where you went and remember that we use al with singular/masculine places, but
we use a la with feminine singular
places --- al cine, a la piscina).
15. Mis padres están comiendo ahora.
(To make the present progressive, we
conjugate estar and then use the
appropriate verb. Remember that we use the ending -ando for -ar verbs and -iendo
for -er and -ir verbs).
16. Sí, la busqué ayer.
(La = la ropa)
(Remember the four direct object pronouns: lo, la, los, las. These come before the
conjugated verb or can also attach to the end of an infinitive).
17. La posesión en mi dormitorio que me gusta más es mi
lámpara, porque la necesito para leer.
(Include the underlined comparative phrase
and also mention why it's your favorite possession).
